HYPNOSIS & HYPNOTHERAPY
Many people have a lot of misconceptions about what hypnosis and hypnotherapy is. Hypnotherapy is therapy within hypnosis. We all have the resources in us to change and be the person we would like to be and the therapist acts as a guide to encourage you to find and be able to use these resources in order to make the necessary changes you would like. Hypnotherapy is a two way interaction, and it is important that you work with the therapist as well, it is not a case of the therapist 'waving a magic wand' over you. Hypnosis is a safe and natural state and practically anybody can experience it. There is no such thing as a 'hypnotized feeling', however it is very pleasant and you will feel a heightened state of awareness and relaxation. You will not be 'put to sleep' but will be more aware of what is taking place as your senses will be more alert than usual. You will not be controlled by the therapist and will not be made to do anything that you do not want to do. The therapist may use different types of therapy within hypnosis to suit each individual, an example being suggestion therapy, which is used for simple problems such as smoking or analytical therapy, which involves searching, discovering and then removing the source of the problem.
